Early morning fire at Kearney Taco John’s
KEARNEY, Neb. — The Nebraska State Fire Marshal is investigating after a fire at a Kearney restaurant early Wednesday morning. According to the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department, around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, a Kearney Police officer was called to Taco John’s, 419 E. 25th St., after dispatch received a security alarm.

Unattended candle likely cause of fire at Centennial Apartments in Kearney
KEARNEY — An unattended candle is thought to be the cause of a fire that occurred at the Centennial Park Apartments during the morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 16. At 8:19 a.m., the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to 1000 4th Avenue for the report of smoke coming from an apartment building.
KVFD finishes 2023 with 459 fire, 197 rescue calls
KEARNEY — 2023 was another busy year for the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department, they recently released last year’s statistics. The KVFD responded to 459 fire calls, 197 rescue calls, 107 non-emergency responses and their members recorded 6,049 hours of training.
