The Kearney Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) was dispatched to an industrial fire at Andersen Wrecking, 1912 Avenue M. Upon arrival, KVFD crews found heavy black smoke and flames coming from the exterior and interior of Andersen’s sorting building.
KEARNEY — An unattended candle is thought to be the cause of a fire that occurred at the Centennial Park Apartments during the morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 16. At 8:19 a.m., the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to 1000 4th Avenue for the report of smoke coming from an apartment building.
KEARNEY — 2023 was another busy year for the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department, they recently released last year’s statistics. The KVFD responded to 459 fire calls, 197 rescue calls, 107 non-emergency responses and their members recorded 6,049 hours of training.
KEARNEY — Smoke and flames caused heavy damage and killed a dog Thursday in a mobile home fire at East Lawn Mobile Home Park. The State Fire Marshal determined an unattended candle was the cause of the blaze.
