Kearney, Neb. — The Kearney Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) was dispatched to 2023 25th Road, #46 for the report of a structure fire with occupants possibly inside.

While enroute, dispatch advised that #46 was fulling engulfed and 1-2 additional neighboring structures had caught fire. Additionally, at that time, it was reported by bystanders that all occupants had been accounted for and were evacuated.

Upon arrival, KVFD established command and began fire attack. A water shuttle operation was established for water supply. The fire was contained to only one structure & brought under control at 13:08.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the preliminary investigation results indicates the fire was accidental and was caused by a wood burning stove. The home is a total loss.

Other agencies assisting at the scene were the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, Kearney County Sheriff’s Office, Kearney Police Department, CHI Good Samaritan EMS, SPPD & Northwestern Energy. No injuries were reported.
