| STATION HISTORY |
| This station was built in 1972 on the former site of the First United Methodist Church, which was destroyed by fire December 25, 1969. Station 1 has six apparatus bays and houses city equipment and most of the Suburban Fire Protection District #1 fire equipment, including: numerous trucks, an equipment trailer for our trained dive team, and a fire prevention trailer for our special fire prevention equipment. This facility is used by the administrative staff, and accommodates for some of the training needs of the volunteer members. It contains administrative and corporate offices, meeting rooms, an auxiliary room, a coffee room overseen by retired members, a communications center, a complete physical fitness facility, SCBA room, hose tower, and a large truck room. This station is also equipped with an emergency exhaust system to remove vehicle exhaust when vehicles are started. |
